Laboratory technician/Research assistant

Full-time position available for qualified individual with skills in molecular and biochemical techniques for work in biomedical research laboratory investigating expression of neurotransmitter receptors relevant for learning and mood. The individual will be part of an integrated research team investigating the regulation of GABA receptors as targets of sedative drugs and stress hormones in studies funded both by the National Institutes of Health as well as several private pharmaceutical companies.  Responsibilities include performing Western blots, DNA gel electrophoresis, PCR, cell culture and DNA transfection, as well as data analysis and maintaining lab supplies. The work from these studies will be published in peer-reviewed journals (see Nature Neuroscience 10: 469-477, 2007; Nature Neuroscience 5: 721-722, 2002). The duration of the position and salary are negotiable depending upon experience and performance, with advancement to a more senior position as experience is gained. The laboratory is situated in an urban medical school setting with access to state-of-the-art technical resources, collaborative efforts with other investigators and biomedical library.
