Position Overview: - The Lead Engineer is responsible for design and operation of Vertexs storage subsystem globally. S/he will define and oversee plans/architecture and controls related to storage and its use in moving to disk-to-disk back/compliance activities in addition to disaster recovery. - Directs and ensures documentation of operations maintenance activities and data restoration as required and w/in regulated parameters. - Successful candidate will also participate as a lead member of the system administration team to oversee and maintain Unix/Linux systems. - As a technical leader you will mentor and coach junior staff across sites. Key Responsibilities: - Lead responsibility for NAS/Block storage residing on Network Appliance device - Migration experience from SAN or other block level device - Schedule and perform maintenance and upgrading of storage devices, software and firmware. Responsible for day-to-day health of system. - At least 2 yrs experience with Disk-to-Disk backup - Strong experience with “OnTap” software set in a globally distributed model - Storage virtualization experience. - Facilitate path to Disaster Recovery model via the implementation of replication model Minimal Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in computer science or a scientific or business field or 10+ years of equivalent experience.. - Experience managing a globally distributed storage environment of over 200tb. - Experience in a UNIX/LINUX/Windows enterprise environment. - Solid storage experience with both block and file based systems (San/Nas). Disk-to-Disk backup experience required. . - Experience managing storage for a high performance computing function in support of discovery/research functions. - At least 10 years Data center operations experience that includes capacity planning and forecasting, disaster recovery and business continuity is required.. - Ability to establish effective collaborative working relationships with multiple support groups across the company. - Research and / or Pharmaceutical experience a plus.
