Engineering design activities: redesign, reengineering & improvement of existing machinery Innovative development of new technologies. Collection of input and engineering data 2D and 3D modeling Analysis of concepts Development and testing of prototypes, culminating in the creation of problem solving final machine designs and documentation Support of plant floor implementation on these designs.  RESPONSIBILITIES Performs Design Engineering activities to effectively satisfy objectives as assigned. General examples of assignments: Machine hardening, Prototype design creation, New concept development. Assures the successful completion of assigned projects, tasks and activities on time, within budget, and delivering the predefined performance and achieving project goals. Supports the objectives and activities of others as assigned. Periodically, controls spending within well-defined budgets. Produces and is accountable for proper and accurate engineering work and record keeping. Support the continuous machine design improvement effort. Periodically manages others in a project team. Maintains documentation accuracy by updating drawings concerning revisions made to existing equipment. REQUIREMENTS BS in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. 5 years experience required in drafting and modeling utilizing SolidWorks & AutoCAD. 7+ years related experience in machine design engineering and project management. Extensive knowledge of high speed & volume manufacturing/packaging machinery. Knowledge in the areas of machining, welding, fabrication, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Project, Word & Excel. Experience in Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, FMEA, and DOE techniques preferred.
