Manufacturing Engineer with Spectroscopy Background

Role:  Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, this position will ensure that Mettler-Toledo meets customers’ exacting product and quality requirements during the production process. 

 

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:  Supporting the manufacture of current product as well as have responsibility for the transfer of new product from Engineering to production. Product design for manufacturability and test, design and development of processes and testing improvements, and preparation of controlled documents. Assistance may also be needed with product testing, recording and analyzing test data, and reporting findings with recommendations to operating management.Other related tasks as directed by the Manufacturing Engineering Manager. 



Education/Experience Requirements:BS Engineering/Science degree or 10+ years work experience in a relevant field. Familiarity with ISO, ATEX, FDA regulations, etc preferred.Demonstrated knowledge of FTIR and/or NIR instrumentation is essential. Knowledge of ATR technology and interface with FTIR/NIR equipment is preferred. Hands-on use of Michelson Interferometers and Mid infrared sampling technology (e.g., mirrored conduits, and optics) is required.Experience with CAD software SolidWorks or ProE strongly preferred.Prior experience implementing change utilizing change control processes (e.g. ECN, ECR, ECO). Functional understanding of Bill of Materials, material flow, and ERP/MRP experience is required.Possess high level skills at troubleshooting electrical, optical, and/or mechanical assemblies.  Ability to document test/assembly process steps that will be referred to by operations personnel.Ability to read, understand, and accurately modify technical drawings. Hands on experience with laboratory test equipment and small components (e.g. calipers, micrometers, oscilloscopes, DMM, microscope, small tools and assemblies, etc.).Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, small team environment with minimal supervision and personnel skills that allow ease of interface between departments and ability to gain cooperation through influence. Travel: 10%
