Reporting to the Head of Systems Development and Integration, the Mechanical/Process Engineer will be responsible for establishing modifications to Sequenom’s platform in order to make it more integrated and achieve higher throughput.  In addition, this position will be accountable for simultaneously reducing reagent costs by reducing sample and reagent volumes.  The ideal candidate will examine appropriate sub-modules for the platform (liquid handling, common reagent dispensation etc.) and subsequently, integrate the identified components.

 

The successful candidate will have:

· 2  years engineering related industry experience

· Bachelors degree in mechanical or process engineering

· Experience with liquid handling

· Knowledge of system integration and automation

· Basic understanding of the tools used in Molecular Biology (e.g.: PCR)

· Previous experience with  SolidWorks, CAD and other standard tool in Mechanical Engineering

· Willingness to do hands on work
