Major Function:

Works independently to ensure scientific accuracy, medical relevance, consistency, and approved style guidelines are implemented on all assigned projects.

 

 

Essential Functions:

–  Edit all assigned projects to AMA style guidelines

–  Ensure accuracy of spelling, grammar and syntax

–  Verify medical terminology and fact check references

–  Verify accreditation statements, physician names, titles and disclosure information against appropriate backup

–  Edit tables and figures for consistent formats

–  Execute Medline reference searches and other Internet research

–  Order references and permissions required to support each project

–  Check current version against previous rounds to ensure edits have been implemented

 

 

Personal Characteristics:

This position requires a person with a high energy level who is detail oriented. In addition, the following skills are required:

–  Strong writing skills and understanding of AMA style requirements

–  Experience with MS Word and Power Point

–  Sound judgment and reasoning

 

 Education and/or Experience

College degree with 2-3 years of related experience in scientific/medical editing.
