Medical Science Liaison/Oncology-Central

Otsuka is seeking a Medical Science Liaison for the Central, US region, to provide communication and service, related to an OAPI therapeutic or diagnostic product to a diverse external and internal customer base.
The specific duties of the Medical Science Liaison are as follows:Establish status as a knowledgeable and trustworthy medical and scientific resource for Health Care Providers (HCPs)Communicate current clinical research data to HCPs in response to unsolicited inquiries Help identify medical experts for potential service as speakers, consultants, and investigators in company sponsored trialsDeliver scientifically focused, balanced education presentations to groups of strategic importance, such as hospital P&T committees and payers Assist in training educational speakers on product knowledge and medical/scientific data and informationParticipate and interact with HCPs at national, regional, and local conferences, advisory boards and journal clubsKeep current with literature, therapeutic issues, and competitive landscape related to relevant therapeutic area or areasProvide periodic informational reports about clinical development activities by Otsuka's competitors in the relevant therapeutic area through attendance at national, regional and local conferences, regional meetings and personal contactsTrack progress of Investigator Sponsored Clinical Trials funded by grants from OAPI Review clinical protocols with internal Medical Affairs team as neededAssess sites for potential participation in OAPI-sponsored studiesAssist the Medical Information team with drafting responses for HCPs about tolvaptan as needed.
The successful candidate must meet the following minimum requirements:Pharm.D., Ph.D., M.D., R.N. with Master's degree, or equivalent educational credential is strongly preferred. May consider a person without such credentials, but with a bachelor's degree and substantial experience in a relevant field or position that indicates that the candidate would have scientific credibility with health care providers.3 or more years of Medical Liaison experience, including awareness of current compliance environment, is strongly preferredExemplary interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written, and strong presentation skillsDemonstrated ability to communicate and comprehend scientific data and concepts effectively with a wide variety of audiencesDemonstrated effectiveness working independently and in groups in a collegial manner, including cross functional teams and internal/external networkingStrong analytical, conceptual, administrative, and computer skills There will be approximately 50-70% travel in the assigned geographic region.
