Microbiology Lab Technician

Title: Microbiology TechnicianLocation: Columbus, OHDuration: Contract to Hire Our client, located in Columbus, has an immediate need for a lab technician.   Job qualifications include a Bachelors Degree in microbiology or biotechnology and extensive experience in microbiological laboratory procedures. Knowledge or training in Good Laboratory Practices is essential. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Experience using PC and standard software programs (Excel, Word) is desirable. Preference will be given to candidates with advanced technical knowledge and experience. Candidates must be willing to be immunized with licensed and FDA approved Investigational New Drugs (IND) products, which are recommended for persons at risk to occupational exposure of biological agents. Candidates must be eligible to attain a DoD security clearance.  Job duties may include, but are not limited to, working with highly hazardous biological materials in a Biological Safety Level 3 (BSL-3) laboratory, supporting and conducting in vivo pathogenicity/toxicity studies, performing standard microbiological procedures and immunological assays such as ELISA, decontamination of equipment and materials. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to read, understand, and fully execute study protocols, write reports, and perform assigned technical tasks in a timely manner. Selected applicant will be expected to use a hands-on approach to solving technical problems and work well in a team environment. Applicant selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Applicant is expected to be detail orientated, have the ability to follow standard laboratory operating procedures, health and safety guidelines, and work with minimal supervision.
