NA Regional Manager: EHS, Industrial Hygiene and APIs

At Management Recruiters International—The Merwin Group, we specialize in the placement of outstanding talent in the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical and scientific industries. This role at our global pharmaceutical client is responsible for oversight of all EHS programs, compliance and personnel in the North American region.  This Manager reports directly to the Director of Operations.  Key responsibilities include ensuring that EHS programs are effective and meet all applicable regulations for OSHA, EPA, State and Local requirements. Primary Responsibilities:·  Manage EHS staff including Environmental Engineer and Safety Specialist positions. ·  Act as a member of the Global Safety Council, to help ensure EHS activities are harmonized and measured by the same high standards throughout the North American region. ·  Develop Standard Operating Procedures and compliance programs to create / maintain a culture of safety and environmental awareness as required. ·  Prepare and submit reports to regulatory agencies as required. ·  Proactively measure EHS performance, and communicate current issues and metrics to departments and management as appropriate. ·  Ensure all EHS incidents/deviations are properly investigated and include prevention solutions with corrective actions tracked to completion.·  Audit equipment, areas and processes for safe operation/compliance with applicable regulations.·  Provide leadership and training to employees with special duties, including Safety Officers, Hazmat Team, and First Aid Team. ·  Help manage care, support and safe return to work duties for injured employees. ·  Assess EHS implications of proposed new / altered materials, equipment and processes, including active pharmaceutical ingredients and controls. ·  Perform industrial hygiene sampling as needed; collect and interpret data to help design and implement suitable solutions. ·  Provide recommendations for continuous improvement, based upon analysis of incident and industrial hygiene data, and behavior-based safety observations. Required Skills and Experience: ·  Bachelor Degree and 8 years experience in safety, toxicology or related scientific or engineering discipline.  ·  Experience in managing compliance to OSHA safety regulations, EPA and DEP regulations.·  Experience in IH sampling, collecting and interpreting data, recording and tracking metrics, etc., to identify trends and appropriate next steps. ·  Experience in the pharmaceutical industry, specifically in risk assessment and control of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) strongly desired. Keywords:  EHS, CIH, CSP, API, OSHA, Safety, pharmaceutical, toxicology, EPA, DEP, compliance MRINetwork is the largest and most successful search organization in the world.
