As human cells age, the telomeres that cap the end of our DNA erodes, and subsequently, human cells can only divide 50 to 70 times before they can no longer replicate and begin to dysfunction.Telomeres are essentially like software in the cell that causes it to age. As telomeres grow shorter cells grow old and tissues and organs deteriorate. Telomolecular is the first company to repair telomeres in living systems which may lead to clinically useful therapies for the treatment of diseases of aging such as macular degeneration, arteriosclerosis, cirrhosis of the liver, osteoporosis, diabetes and many others. We think that advances like this may allow people to become younger and live longer.
