Oncology Clinical Specialist-Central Region

The purpose of the Clinical Support Specialist, Hematology/ Oncology (CSS) is to support sales and sales-related goals and objectives across the assigned Business Area. The Clinical Support Specialist's primary responsibility is to support two critical US Commercial strategic imperatives: identify patients with PNH and generate demand with treating physicians by developing and implementing Key Large Account guidelines or procedures for appropriate screening and differential diagnosis for PNH as well as educate on PNH treatment options, including Soliris™. Secondary responsibilities include other key US Commercial strategic imperatives. The Clinical Support Specialist will focus on developing a multi-faceted, long-term account approach to PNH management, delivering medical education and clinical support to physicians, nurses and other medical professionals by utilizing approved resources and report directly to the Senior Director, US Sales. The Clinical Support Specialist will work in partnership with Alexion Regional Account Managers to achieve account specific goals and targets. Primary customers are the nation's largest hematology/oncology treatment sites, inclusive of local account that are members of the National Oncology Networks. Within these accounts key customers will include CEOs, Presidents and Chief Medical Officers, other staff physicians, hematology/oncology nurses and pharmacists. Additional responsibilities may include providing support to RAM with Office Managers, Buyers, and Reimbursement Coordinators. The CSS will affect territory sales by executing a Plan of Action (POA) commercial strategy, which involves on label educational programs, providing clinical support, and providing guideline reviews/ recommendations. Clinical Support Specialists will also be responsible for executing market development programs (e.g., patient and nursing societies), collaborating with marketing in the review of educational material, and developing territory plans with the Senior Director of US Sales, Executive Director of US Access Services, Directors of National Accounts, and the Regional Account Managers. The Clinical Support Specialist, USCO (CSS) brings specific clinician/medical expertise and experience to the assigned teams and their Key Accounts. The CSS will increase physician/clinician knowledge and understanding of the unique and differentiating attributes of Soliris™ and its role in treating PNH. Candidates should demonstrate clinical/medical expertise, effective partnership with cross-functional teams, and excellent communication and presentation skills. Local Market knowledge is also preferred. Act in complete & total compliance with all laws, regulations and policies Participate as and when needed/working in cross-functional or other project teams and/or supporting peers, the overall division, region, or franchise to excel Achieves or exceeds PNH patient identification/testing/screening objectives and sales quota in assigned geography Develops cross functional (Regional Account Managers, Directors of National Accounts, Case Managers, Customer Operations Representatives, Sr. Director, US Sales, US Marketing, and other key Alexion functions) account-specific business plans. Regional expert (an in-depth understanding) of local market opportunities regarding patient testing and identification Will be responsible developing and implementing patient identification / diagnostic testing programs for the largest hematology/oncology accounts in assigned geography Work closely with US Marketing to create and implement patient testing and identification tools and programs Work closely with Directors of National Accounts (DNA) to create and implement National Oncology Network PNH patient screening / identification pull-through initiatives Work with advocacy and patient groups in developing patient screening initiatives as coordinated with US Marketing Establish relationships, developing strategic and tactical testing initiatives with national / regional diagnostic laboratories Play leadership role with RAMs in assembling and mobilizing cross-functional account teams to develop long-term relations with key community oncology accounts. Demonstrates strong in-depth clinical, technical and scientific knowledge in complex disease state. Ability to work closely with all home office staff to mobilize resources Will report to Sr. Director, US Sales Education Requirement: Clinical/Medical certification with graduate-level degree is preferred, e.g., RN with a Masters Degree in Nursing, Advanced Pharmacy degree, etc. Clinical experience in Hematology / Oncology preferred. Demonstrated ability to manage large geographical territory. Minimum of 2 years experience in the biopharmaceutical industry. Proven track record for delivering strong, consistent results in a field based position. Experience in specialty injectable/infusion markets, with hematology/oncology or orphan drug experience preferred. Ability to work effectively in team-oriented environment as well as independently on a consistent basis. Ability to develop strong, professional relationships. Demonstrated ability to successfully seek out new accounts. B.A. /B.S. in business or scientific field is preferred. Valid driver's license and clean driving record. Previous experience in achieving specific sales plans or other financial targets is preferred. Ability to travel within territory on a regular basis which will include frequent overnight and weekend travel.
