The successful candidate will join a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team of scientists in the Oncology in vivo Pharmacology Group, playing a key role in the development of in vivo models of cancer and the use of those models for evaluating new drug candidates. Ideal applicants will possess excellent communication and organizational skills, critical problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to excellence.Candidate will be responsible for: Design, develop, characterize, implement and validate relevant in vivo oncology-related models including subcutaneous, orthotopic and hematological models. Establish innovative pharmaco-dynamic models and tumor models tailored to the molecular target of interest Documentation, analysis and interpretation of experiments for the evaluation of pre-clinical candidates as potential therapeutic agents. Present results both written and verbal and deliver completed reports within a multidisciplinary team environment.Key responsibilities include compound formulation, preliminary safety evaluation, and assessments of efficacy and PK/PD for drug combinations. The candidate will supervise daily activities of a Laboratory with 2-4 associates. He/She will closely collaborate/interact with other Laboratories within the Pharmacology Unit, and with scientists from the Molecular and Cellular Biology Unit, Medicinal Chemistry Unit, and with Clinical Scientists.QualificationsA MS or PhD degree in one of the life sciences, with expertise in in vivo physiology or pharmacology and at least three years postdoctoral and/or industry experience. Industry experience with oncology models is strongly preferred. The candidate should have a comprehensive, in-depth knowledge of Oncology research, particularly related to industrial drug discovery and development, with emphasis on drug combinations. He/she should have a strong background in molecular biology, biochemistry, developmental biology and a good knowledge of statistics. The candidate is also expected to be highly motivated, to have excellent leadership, communication and inter-personal skills. Experience in leading Oncology drug discovery programs and/or supervisory experience is a plus.
