PRODUCT/ PROCESS DEVELOPMENT AND IMPROVEMENT ENGINEER
The Engineer utilizes advanced, analytical tools and techniques to define, quantify, improve the product and process quality. The successful candidate will apply engineering/ technical skills and statistical techniques to make recommendations and carry out quality improvements, to support manufacturing and new product development efforts. The focus of this position will be on the continual improvement of existing processes, and supporting the efforts of the development and validation of new processes. The successful candidate will also apply problem solving techniques to identify and resolve quality issues to ensure customer satisfaction.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Ø BS degree in Science or Engineering; BS in Chemical Engineering and/ or advanced degree is preferred.
Ø 5 plus years of working experience; 3 plus years using statistics in process development, improvement and / or validations in a manufacturing environment.
Ø Knowledge of manufacturing systems, engineering principles and statistical analysis.
Ø Experience with implementing new products, and new manufacturing processes.
Ø Working experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and familiar with Design and Experiment (DOE) concept.
Ø ASQ Certified Quality Engineer is preferred.
Ø Experience working in an ISO 9001-2000 or GMP regulated environment is also preferred.

The individual must demonstrate leadership skills and the ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of employees to plan, organize and complete multiple projects from inception to finish; ability to prioritize and execute projects according to value, cost and risk is essential.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ø Analyze product quality and process stability/ capability data, utilizing advanced analytical tools and statistical methods, to identify trends and target opportunities for improvement.
Ø Participate in the development and validation of manufacturing processes to support transferring new product and process to commercial manufacturing.
Ø Implement SPC of critical product and process variables; Design and implement methods that will reduce process variation.
Ø Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing and Quality to implement process optimizations and cost reduction initiatives.
Ø Facilitate the application of applicable quality tools in the plant and QC lab, to monitor/ evaluate adherence to procedures and gain consistency.

WORKING CONDITIONS: This position is based at the Kemin Health, L.C. Headquarters in Des Moines, Iowa. The position is considered 40 hours per week but requires flexibility and at times, will require the individual to devote additional work time at work and at home.
