Physician Substitute-part-time

Talecris Plasma Resources specializes in the colllection of human plasma used in therapies that help people everywhere maintain and enhance their quality of life.  We currently have a position open in Durham for a part-time physician substitute.

Position Description1. Build rapport with with donors to ensure overall “customer” satisfaction with the center to support long-term donation.
2. Selection of eligible plasmapheresis donors through the use of the standard operating procedure manual, current state and federal guidelines, OSHA, CLIA, and cGMP, and all internal company procedures.
3. Review accumulated data to confirm established donors' continued eligibility.
4. Review and authorize medical incident reports.
5. Provide appropriate medical care to donors during plasmapheresis process, should complications arise, including contacting all necessary parties.
6. Assist with management and administration of Hepatitis Vaccine program, according to established protocols.
7. Assist with donor screening process including medical history review, and annual physical examination of donors.
8. Responsible for donor awareness to potential hazards and collection of donor consent form.
9. Assist with management and administration of employee counseling, testing, and follow-up of employee exposures to plasma or blood.
10. Review all normal and abnormal test results and donor files in order to determine continued donor eligibility.
11. Provide appropriate and confidential counseling to ineligible donor candidates.
12. Ensure competence to perform other center technical roles and capable of performing other roles during center non-peak times.
13. Maintain familiarity with new products, technologies, and/or methods and conduct periodic staff meetings to review.
14. Maintain both donor and personnel confidentiality.
15. Report all unsafe situations or conditions to supervisor.
16. Other duties as required.


Require heathcare related degree or license, including Emergency Medical Technician (Paramedic Level), Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Bachelor's of Science in Nursing, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practicioner. Will consider persons with prior military medical experience. Current medical license and CPR certification require
