POSITION TITLE: Post-Doctoral Scientist REPORTS TO: Senior Principal Scientist STATUS: Exempt X Non Exempt JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE: Assists Principal Scientist in the analytical and functional analysis of extracellular matrix as it relates to product understanding and development. Responsible for the implementation of standard laboratory procedures as well as the development of new procedures as required. Utilizes advanced scientific methods of cell biology, molecular biology, protein engineering, and protein chemistry. Maintains substantial knowledge of state of the art principles and theories. Contribute to scientific literature and conferences. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Analytical and functional analysis of extracellular matrix 2. Maintain current understanding of extracellular matrix biology 3. Assay development 4. Assist with experimental design 5. Oral and written communication of data 6. Maintain laboratory notebook QUALIFICATIONS: MINIMUM EDUCATION: Ph.D. with 0-3 years experience; U.S. work authorization required MINIMUM SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Knowledge of cell biology, biochemistry and chemistry. Demonstrated expertise in the area of chemistry/protein chemistry. Experience with general laboratory techniques and use of standard laboratory equipment. EQUIPMENT USED: Standard lab equipment, including balances, pH meters, light microscopes, spectrophotometers, plate readers, etc. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Research Laboratory COMMUNICATION REQUIREMENTS: Excellent interpersonal skills PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Basic mechanical skills, lifting up to 20 lbs, Good visual skills. Good manual dexterity and eye-to-hand coordination.
