Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Biopolymers Philip Morris USA, a leading manufacturer and marketer of adult consumer products, in coordination with Select Staffing, seeks a highly qualified candidate for the position of Postdoctoral Fellow. Select Staffing administers Philip Morris USA's Postgraduate Research Program. At this time, we are seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow in the area of Biopolymers to join our team at the Philip Morris USA facilities in Richmond, VA. Position Objective and Responsibilities: Excellent opportunity to work in a new state-of-the-art facility in Virginia Project Summary: The ideal candidate should have a background in biopolymers and in-depth understanding of relationship between structure and property of biopolymer compositions. Experience with proteins, hydrogels, hydrocolloids, etc., and a familiarity with mechanical property and texture determinations, and properties of dispersions is a plus. Candidate will characterize the materials using various techniques. Document and communicate research results, conclusions and recommendations through lab notebooks, internal reports and presentation as well as external presentations and publications. During an assignment at Philip Morris, incumbents are exposed to current issues in science and technology, have an opportunity to gain and share innovative ideas and techniques with resident technical staff while making significant contributions to selected research areas. Duties will be performed on site at Philip Morris USA in Richmond, Virginia under the administration of Select Staffing. Degree Requirements: Ph.D. (doctoral degree from an accredited university) in one of the following or similar fields: A Ph.D. from Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or Food Science departments with emphasis on Polymers. Other Qualifications: In addition to having earned a Ph.D. in a preferred area of expertise, ideal candidates also possess: In depth understanding of relationship between property and structure of natural polymer gels and films is highly desirable. Experience with food texture modification. A strong attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and as a member of a cross-functional team. Ability to either work for any employer in the United States or obtain a qualified citizenship status such as H1-B, TN or other for consideration.
