Principal Engineer

Job Summary: Plans, schedules and leads process engineering project assignments using various engineering techniques, procedures and criteria with minimal guidance. Displays standard engineering principles to resolve difficult problems, from conception to final design with team input. Essential Duties and Responsibilties: With minimal guidance, schedules and leads a team through the planning and execution of a smaller project or defined piece of a larger project. This includes constructing detailed, accurate project schedules, interfacing with development groups and technical support groups. Devises new approaches to complex problems through adaptations and modifications of standard technical principles. Creates detailed and accurate project schedules and budgets. Interfaces with development groups and technical support groups. Responsible and accountable for project due dates and costs. Identify and resolve issues that may jeopardize project schedules or improve project time. Establish, develop and drive Good Engineering Practices and conduct projects according to the prescribed Project Management Methodology. Manages and sets priorities on multiple tasks to achieve critical project targets. 7) Provides supervision to engineers and technicians as needed on assigned work, and manages contractors on projects. QUALIFICATIONS: Strong process engineering skills based on sound engineering and scientific principles. Solid understanding of theories/practices utilized by other disciplines outside primary area of expertise. Must have excellent communication skills in order to effectively communicate with all levels of professionals, both internal and external. Demonstrated ability to write reports clearly, describing results from complex processes and qualifications. Ability to convince management on courses of action with minimal assistance using both written and verbal methods. Effective team member who can operate in and lead cross-functional teams with minimal guidance. Must be able to provide solutions that reflect understanding business objectives and cost implications.8) Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and incorporate cGMP requirements and safety into designs. Ability to independently define, characterize and solve problems. Recognizes opportunities for improvement. B.S. in Chemical Engineering and 5 - 8 years related experience, or M.S. and 2- 4 years related experience. Demonstrated success in delivering results on several technical challenges. Experience in the Biopharmaceutical, Chemical Processing, Food or Petrochemical industries preferred.
