Principal Scientist - Consumer Product Research - (Job Number: 0802337) DescriptionThe Principal Scientist - Consumer Product Research will support various Consumer Feminine Hygiene Franchises such as Sanitary Napkins, Pantiliners, Tampons, Urinary Leakage Pads and Devices, Wipes, Washes, as well as other women's health related products. The individual will assume consumer product testing responsibilities and interface closely with cross-functional teams to design, execute, and analyze a wide range of exploratory, qualitative and quantitative consumer/sensory researches all around the world. The candidate's goal will be to help elevate the consumer-centricity of the R&D organization by thoroughly thinking through project/research objectives, success criteria/action standards, and expected use of results/actions to be taken. He/She will develop and recommend the most appropriate research methodology and test design. The individual will develop/supervise documentation development (questionnaires, discussion guides, etc.). The Principal Scientist - Consumer Product Research will conduct internally or supervise external consumer research agencies and will thoroughly analyze consumer data, accurately summarizing the results, and make sound project recommendations. The candidate will provide guidance on developing a consumer model, relating technical data with qualitative and quantitative consumer data to progress product optimization. The Principal Scientist - Consumer Product Research will map, develop and/or improve key department procedures and processes. They will help in the development of new consumer research methodologies. The individual will link and collaborate with worldwide company affiliates to access or provide technical expertise and information, while sharing best practices. Finally, the candidate may supervise between 3 to 5 employees working in the same domain, conducting employee surveys, managing an internal online panel, and conducting small scale exploratory studies, etc. A minimum of a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 7 years of experience in consumer research and/or market research testing in product industries is required. A Master's degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience in consumer research and/or market research testing in product industries is preferred. A PhD with a minimum of 4 years of experience in consumer research and/or market research testing in product industries is preferred. Experience with qualitative and basic quantitative matters is required. Experience using creative and novel approaches to consumer research is required. A technical base in all phases of testing is required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written are required. Ability to be Consumer-focused is required. Good listening skills are required. Other requirements include the ability to integrate/internalize learning from a variety of sources/experiences, the ability to identify competitor's product strengths and weaknesses, the ability to identify insights and transform them into opportunities, and attention to detail. Statistical testing is required. Moderating skills are preferred. Six Sigma and/or Process excellence knowledge as well as ethnography experience is preferred. 20% travel (Domestic and Global) is required.
