With a deep and broad pipeline of potential new medicines, we continue to advance science to serve patients.The Preformulation group in the Department of Small Molecule Pharmaceutics is seeking a Principal Scientist to lead a group of preformulation scientists at our Cambridge, MA research facility. The successful candidate will lead the group of professionals whose responsibility is to plan and execute studies to assess the physicochemical properties of new drug candidates, including optimization of physical properties, elucidation of chemical reactivity, as well as providing formulation support for preclinical studies. In this role, you will provide critical interaction with various basic research and preclinical groups and also support early activities of clinical formulation development and quality control groups.Ph.D. in organic chemistry, physical-organic chemistry, pharmaceutics, or physical pharmacy.A minimum of 5 years industrial experience with proven track record of developing small molecule drug candidates.In depth understanding of pharmaceutical preformulation.At least 3 years of previous management experience.Preferred Qualifications:Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required for interaction with various research and preclinical groups within the organizationExperience supervising Ph.D. level scientists and/or groups of more than 5 scientists.Full understanding of early drug development, from lead selection, through preclinical development and into early clinical trials. The particular emphasis is on preclinical development, including support of PKDM, toxicology, and chemical process development.Understanding of pharmaceutical dosage form selection and development, both oral and parenteral.
