Principal Scientist, Technical Assurance - (Job Number: 0711134) DescriptionWe are currently recruiting for a Principle Scientist, to support Technical Assurance, located in Los Angeles, CA. The Principal Scientist will support consumer and personal care products such as Sun Care, Baby Care, Women's Health, and Beauty Care divisions by providing technical support from a manufacturability and formulation standpoint. The Principal Scientist is responsible for reformulation projects from business case development, technology screening, product development, consumer / claims testing and implementation while focusing on product cost, quality, and manufacturability. The Principal Scientist will support reformulation of base business products for cost improvement, business continuity and/or process excellence. The candidate will drive technical implementation focusing on product cost, quality (manufacturability) and overall project timeline. The individual will provide direction, management and technical expertise to drive the team forward while managing project metrics and lessons learned to improve results and processes associated with base business products. The Principal Scientist will have a creative yet practical and realistic approach to projects, challenges and responsibilities while being results oriented. The Principal Scientist will interface with cross-functional teams. A Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline and a minimum of 7+ years of consumer industry experience is required. An advanced degree is highly desired. Process Development, Product Development and/or Technical Transfer experience, of consumer products (cosmetic, personal care and OTC), are required. Experience in developing a variety of consumer products, such as hair care (shampoos, conditioners, styling products), skin care (lotions, body washes, soaps), women's health (personal lubricants, feminine products), baby care (diapers, formula), and cosmetics (color) are assets. The ideal candidate will have an in-depth technical knowledge base of formulated products including surfactants, suspensions, structured liquids and material chemistry. Solid technical knowledge and industry experience with raw materials and emulsions are required. Knowledge and technical expertise of manufacturing equipment, technology and process engineering of consumer products to develop and validate robust formulations are assets. This candidate must be able to collaboration with various functional groups to ensure successful implementation of processes. A high level of both technical and leadership skills are required. A proven track record of meeting the project objectives by successfully managing, tracking and implementing successful strategies in regards to scope, quality, time and cost is required. A Green Belt and/or Black Belt certified candidate is highly desired.
