As Principal Tax Analyst, your mission will be to support continued development of business operations through effective tax planning, tax compliance and related support. Key responsibilities will include Section 404 controls performance and documentation, quarterly and annual income tax provision preparation, FIN 48 reporting and documentation, global transfer pricing documentation and monitoring, repatriation planning and foreign tax credit forecasting analysis, coordination of foreign tax advisors as well as foreign controllers in regards to statutory accounts and tax retun filings for affiliates, branches and disregarded entities, planning and modeling tax analysis for proposed transactions to estimate impact on tax attributes and future effective tax rate, tax research, planning and guidance to assist management with business decisions relating to tax implications of all types of business transactions. Pride -- you'll join the team working to restore sight and improve the lives of people around the world.Your Role As Principal Tax Analyst, you'll join our growing Santa Ana, California headquarters and report to the International Tax Manager. You'll have access to both formalized and on-the-job training and can expect a ramp-up period of around 6 months as you become associated with the complexities of our medical devices, the breadth of our products, and how tax supports our business operations. Your ongoing responsibilities in this role will include: Supporting our process for filing the consolidated federal income tax return and related filings for foreign subsidiaries, branches and disregarded entities, (including informational returns for CFC’s, foreign tax credits and SubPart F calculations). Preparation of quarterly global tax provision calculations under FAS109 and FIN 48 with reporting and disclosure as required (including international issues relating to US reporting for foreign affiliates). Reporting and tracking current and deferred income tax liabilities and related balance sheet classification. Preparing supporting computations for tax footnote and tax disclosures in SEC filings. Supporting our overall corporate defense strategy for federal and international tax audits. Administering income tax audits; interacting with auditors; managing the information request process; and coordinating document compilation with our financial shared service centers. Assisting with technical modeling support and analysis for tax planning on acquisitions, restructurings, and other strategic projects to determine U.S. tax, foreign tax and business implications. Maintaining internal controls pursuant to Sarbanes Oxley and assuring control performance and documentation.Keys to Success Ours is a very lean organization, and we are working to build scalable support functions that can absorb additional volume as we continue to grow. This is equally true of our Tax Department, and we'll look to you to help us implement and leverage the appropriate technology and processes that will allow us to effectively handle large business projects, such as acquisitions, and maintain our day-to-day operations during tax reporting peaks without having to rely extensively on outside support. In this way, you'll need to be a self-starter and hands-on contributor, capable of assembling the proper resources in order to get results. On the one hand, this will mean defining our position and priorities, identifying opportunities, and determining how we can achieve those. At the same time, it will mean being a partner and collaborator who can truly make it happen. Strong attention to detail will also prove essential in this role, and you'll be expected to effectively multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and accurately complete work on a timely basis. Proven process management skills. Detail oriented, aggressive, self-starter mentality with the ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and complete work timely and accurately. Strong problem solving, organizational and time management skills. Solid workpaper and documentation skills. Strong research and writing skills. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and CPA or Masters Degree in Taxation.Preferred, but not required: Big 4 accounting firm experience. Experience developing effective tax tools and working with an IT organization to build repeatable processes. Proficiency in SAP.
