Process Development Engineer

Pacific Biosciences is seeking a Process Development Engineer. This person will be responsible for leading projects to improve the process so as to enhance performance and reduce variability. This person will also be responsible for delivering a robust process to manufacturing. In this capability this person will take an active role in identifying areas of improvement, design and execute DOEs, analyse and summarise the results and propose a plan of action. This person should be experienced with Semiconductor processing and/or Chemical Engineering – should be proficient in DOEs. This person will need to interact heavily with various different teams within the organization, and will have to manage individual projects to completion. The Ideal Candidate:  Has a strong process development background  Can make good technical assessment of process/product related issues  Should have a broad technical experience so as to be capable of gauging the integrated issues.  Should be able to identify and propose solution paths based on data.  Must be detail oriented – willing to probe deep into the process  Good at data analysis – must be very familiar with statistical software tools, such as JMP  Must be able to design effective DOEs  Must be hands-on – willing to get into the lab/fab to execute to plan  Good documentation skills Responsibilities:  Will be responsible for delivering a robust solution to manufacturing.  Will need to lead improvement projects – from conception to completion (hand-off to manufacturing)  Will involve some interaction with out-sourcing vendors  Lead technical teams to deliver projects on time  Will be responsible for identifying potential opportunities for process improvements  Document newly developed processes and Train/hand-off the new processes to manufacturing Position Requirements:  PhD with a focus in any of the following areas: Sciences, Engineering (Chemical, Semiconductor, Materials)  +5 years of industry experience in one of the following areas: Semiconductors, Chemical, MEMS  Strong communication skills  Proactive: can take initiative  Appreciation of Process quality and specifications as a requirement for manufacturing.
