We currently have exciting opportunities for Process Engineers at our facility in Virginia. The Stonewall Plant is located in the Shenandoah Valley along the Shenandoah River and the Blue Ridge Mountains. The facility is just a short distance from major state universities such as the University of Virginia and James Madison University. Merck's Stonewall facility offers pharmaceutical manufacturing opportunities in the following areas: Organic Synthesis, Fermentation, Bulk Sterile Product Manufacturing, Vaccine Manufacturing, Pharmaceutical Formulation and Sterile Product Finishing.



The Stonewall Plant is currently supporting a $250 Million expansion for the product GARDASIL, the life saving vaccine for cervical cancer. This and other important efforts are resulting in the need for Process Engineers at multiple levels of responsibility through out the facility. Site operations including Organic Synthesis, Bulk Sterile Processing, Bioprocessing including fermentation and purification of Biologics, Pharmaceutical Formulation and Sterile Project Finishing.



Successful candidates for these positions will be expected to:



Apply science and engineering skills to optimize in-line processes to ensure that regulatory compliance, yield, and production rates are maintained

-Support change control, testing, qualification, and demonstration of new equipment and processes

-Support cleaning validation and process validation

-Collect, interpret, and present data in support of troubleshooting and root cause analysis

-Employ strong written and verbal communication skills in interactions with team members including operators, supervisors, craftspeople, managers, scientists and engineers

-Effectively work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team environment

B.S or M.S. in Chemical Engineering strongly preferred, minimally must possess an Engineering or Science degrees at the same level.

Will consider candidates with the same educational requirements as above but with experience of 2-8 years supporting pharmaceutical production processes for an increased position

Interpersonal skills including flexilibity and ability to work in self directed teams

Demonstrated analytical abilities to trouble shoot issues and resolve problems outside of commonly held practices

Good written and verbal communication skills
