Process/Project Engineer

Salary range is $75,000-$85,000   The incumbent uses his/her technical expertise to improve their manufacturing process.  Engineering know-how is used to improve reliability, increase yield, improve product quality, increase production, and reduce costs.  Knowledge of process chemistry and project economics is required.  The incumbent interacts with Operations, R&D, safety/environmental personnel and third party contractors.  The scope of work includes gathering data, trouble shooting process issues and developing and executing capital projects.  Success in this position will enable the incumbent to be considered for positions of higher responsibility in Operations, Engineering or the Business Unit.   Responsibilities & Accountabilities · Becomes a technical expert in the process and leads and participates in all plant process engineering activities.· Provides process engineering support to Operations and optimizes process conditions on a daily basis.· Establishes process improvement plans for manufacturing including environmental improvements.· Discusses technology with R&D personnel.  · Models changes to process to predict effect on Operations.· Provides technical expertise in the design, specification, selection, and operation of equipment.· Takes active role in project development, economics and execution.  Assists in final bid package preparation and subsequent contract bidding and selection.· Organizes field tests and consults with other specialists outside of the facility to solve operating issues.· Remains on call for emergency trouble shooting and operations support.  · Insures all work is done in a safe manner consistent with company, local, state, federal and health, safety and environmental regulations and procedures. Skills & Knowledge Required Education/Experience BS Chemical or Mechanical Engineering 3-10 years experience in a batch chemical plant Extrusion experience preferred, but not required Experience with mechanical and control system design, project management, and instrumentationSkills/Competencies Strong organizational skills along with the ability to handle multiple simultaneous projects.
