Position Description:

The Product Manager, Genome Analyzer Consumables will be responsible for managing the marketing activities necessary for the continued development and commercial support of sequencing consumables. The Illumina Genome Analyzer is commercially available and targets a market estimated to be approximately $500 M in size with potential growth at ~10% per year.Job duties include but are not limited to:• Drive the development of marketing requirements, priorities, and plans for continued evolution, refinement, and extension of consumables for the Illumina Genome Analyzer. • In partnership with the Corporate Marketing group, co-develop and manage annual Marketing Communications plan for Genome Analyzer consumables.• Work closely with external agencies and product management to coordinate and successfully generate all system collateral, including system profiles, training material, promotional items and activities.• Partner with R&D, Operations, and the Field organization to ensure successful deployment of new consumables products. • Coordinate successful relationships with key customers to ensure successful adoption of the system.• Collaboratively work with the Field organization to ensure accomplishment of the milestones in the annual revenue plan.Education and Experience:• Must have a minimum of 2 years experience in a similar position, and an additional 2-3 years experience in life sciences or pharmaceutical product management.• Must have experience defining product requirements and working with R&D to ensure development of products based on customer and business requirements. • Must have experience developing and implementing innovative and successful marketing plans for systems/consumables in the life sciences or pharmaceutical market.• Must have proven track-record of outstanding performance in interacting with customers and various internal organizations.• Direct experience managing consumables products aimed at the molecular biology research market. • Experience working with an international (multi-location) R&D organization.• Experience setting pricing and discounting policies.• Bachelor’s Degree; PhD and/or MBA desirable but not required.
