Reporting to the Head NIBR Cambridge, Real Estate, Engineering & Construction (RE&C), the Project Manager will manage the programming, permitting, planning, design, construction and commissioning of laboratories in Cambridge, Massachusetts.Tasks Perform programming to capture and quantify space needs for potential building users from multiple units across Novartis divisions. Prepare highly conceptual sketches. Interact with NIBR leadership and senior stakeholders to align with the lab of the future vision. Work closely with Strategic Sourcing and colleagues in RE&C to develop and review Request for Proposals (RFP) and actively participate in the selection of architects, engineers, construction managers, cost control and project support, development, and other consultants, as needed. Prepare Capital Appropriation request (CAR) to obtain funding approval to the project. Lead day-to-day interactions between Novartis and selected architects and engineers from conceptual design through commissioning. Achieve LEED Gold certification with a significant reduction of energy use. Work with Novartis Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) to complete any needed site remediation. Manage external cost control and project support, to complete construction within approved scope, quality, schedule and budget. Prepare monthly status reports. Assure that buildings meet or exceed regulatory and Novartis requirements. Work closely with RE&C colleagues and collaboratively with key Novartis clients stakeholders and support functions such as Finance; HSE; Information Technology (NITAS); and Operations.QualificationsDesired Experience" Bachelors degree from an accredited program in Engineering or Architecture with a minimum of 10 years experience in building design/construction. Advanced degree and licensing a plus ." Experience using applicable codes and standards for research laboratories and vivariums including US Building codes, OSHA, ASHRAE, NFPA, Factory mutual (FM), AALAC, USDA, NIH guidelines or international equivalents." Knowledge of AutoCAD a plus." Excellent oral and written communication skills to deal effectively with internal customers and external resources and regulatory agencies." Must be able to work independently with minimal direction to achieve project objectives.
