This position resides within the Applications Department for Marketing, Finance and Planning and involves the development of applications to analyze retail data from sources such as AC Nielson and IRI.  The applications developed may require knowledge of Visual Basic, MS Access, SQL Server, and .Net.  Experience with Business Intelligence tools such as Cognos and SAP BW are also highly desired.   Business Process Managers are technology specialists and business generalists. Those holding this position are assigned to project teams, typically in a lead role, and have demonstrated an in-depth understanding of multiple technologies, an expert level understanding of at least one business process, and a broad understanding of multiple business processes. The incumbent is viewed internally and externally as a technical expert across multiple disciplines and serves as a team leader in the integration of solutions, construction of applications, implementation of new technologies, and development of standards.   Individuals in this job collaborate with the functional groups within the I.S. organization to communicate and clarify business needs, contribute to development of long-range system plans, and ensure products and services are aligned with business needs. Business Technology Consultants are responsible for proactively identifying opportunities to apply technologies to business processes. They inform and advise internal customers, I.S. colleagues and other stakeholders on information system technologies' functionality, costs, benefits, and implementation requirements. These are individuals who are forward thinking and seek opportunities to apply technology to improving business processes within strategic system goals. Business Technology Consultants are competent to perform or integrate work at the highest level within this job family, working at an in-depth level within a technical and/or business area. While they do not normally have regular project leadership responsibility, incumbents are familiar with project management techniques and may lead projects or subprojects. They also possess good coaching skills. Incumbents must understand the standards of existing enterprise technologies and procedures/requirements associated with introducing new technologies. Prepare detailed technical specifications for use in a multi-platform environment from which applications will be written and tested; collaborate with internal customers, IT colleagues and other stakeholders to collect and analyze business requirements for large, multifunctional projects. Follow standards and established methodologies while ensuring consistent, well integrated applications. Additional responsibilities include:   -  Conduct and participate in structured walkthroughs and technical reviews. -  Develop business relationships and integrate activities with other I.S. departments. -  Develops relationships with professional organizations, user groups, and industry trade groups to stay current with technology trends and business information. -  Actively seek ways to apply technology to business processes, researching and providing information on technical trends and practices.   Participate in project management activities and the planning process; Serve as project manager on medium-to-large projects (size and complexity) to achieve results or technical lead on components of larger projects such as the integration of multiple products, processes, or systems into complete business solutions.   Design, develop, refine, test, and debug batch and real-time business applications for use in a multi-platform environment including interface components, graphical screens, reports, and high-level logic for system control. Customize packaged application functionality to satisfy business requirements and business process design. Participate in support of production system (24X7).   Strengthen organizational effectiveness: -  Develop, motivate, and provide thought leadership to peers and developers in a way that fosters conceptual thinking and creative solutioning. -  Provide strategic direction in defining or designing business processes; researching and identifying enabling technologies based on requirements. -  Lead or assist in continuous process improvement efforts.   Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Business Administration, or similar. Or equivalent work experience   Experience: 10 or more years within applications development or comparable area.   Preferred Skills:  Experience with Rapid Application Development within the Retail Data space. Experience creating applications to analyze retail data from IRI, AC Nielson, MSA.
