The technical/proposal writer in this role will be responsible for crafting specific, customized text for Requests for Proposal (RFP) and Request for Information (RFI) documents. It will require the ability to work in a fast-paced proposal development and/or marketing environment as well as the ability to work both independently to conduct research and develop comprehensive, cohesive and responsive text as well as in a team environment to coordinate and manage client-facing documents with other Covance staff (e.g., account executives, subject matter experts and other functional area personnel) on a daily basis. This position will also be responsible for working with other members of the team to assist with the creation and maintenance of text repositories, libraries and any other databases as necessary. Duties and Responsibilities: • Understands and supports business development and proposal development environment • Researches, gathers, creates and organizes information from many sources to generate comprehensive and persuasive text for proposals and RFI documents • Identifies and edits existing materials or writes new copy to effectively communicate corporate and company services, core capabilities and specific departmental offerings to assist in the RFP and RFI development • May “own” text repository/database/library or other information sources by providing regular maintenance and revision of the text at pre-specified time intervals • Supports special projects associated with this position as appropriate • Will be required to work in a global business environment • May require occasional participation on conference calls with clients • Ability to objectively review team members’ and own work with regard to the degree to which a written response meets clients’ expectations and communicate this to manager • Pays attention to detail • Ability to work to tight timelines while maintaining accuracy • Must be able to communicate effectively and diplomatically • Flexibility in the standard working hours may be required to ensure deadlines are met Above average skill with Microsoft Word and Excel software Preferred: Experience with Microsoft Sharepoint Experience: Required: Three to five years experience in a Business Development setting Preferred: Experience in pharmaceutical or CRO industry Education/Qualifications: BA/BS in Life Sciences, Business or Liberal Arts Travel Required less than 10%.
