Job Description Purchasing Manager Glendora, CA Ormco Corporation, an operating subsidiary of Sybron Dental Specialties, Inc., develops, manufactures, and distributes diverse consumable orthodontic and endodontic products worldwide that are sold directly to orthodontists and dentists in the U.S. and abroad. We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Purchasing Manager to join us at our facility in Glendora, CA. Major Responsibilities: Supervises the procurement of raw materials, components, tooling, equipment, supplies and purchased services. Establish Oracle ERP systems and processes. Provide PPV/CR Leadership, In-sourcing, re-sourcing, negotiations, LTA Contracts, and Global strategic sourcing leadership activities. Prepares procurement contracts, resolves and prevents back orders, optimizes inventory and obtains supplier buffer stock commitments, drives supply chain cost reduction, monitors supplier markets and establishes standard costs, drives supplier performance improvement, selects, trains, and motivates direct reports and measures performance, personnel, ensures ISO and cGMP compliance, sets department goals and strategies, supports new product introduction, leads team projects, sources materials and ensures adequate supplier capacities, drives key backup materials supply programs, visits key suppliers, handles key buying responsibilities, arranges for disposal of obsolete items. Education/Experience: Four year college degree, CPM or APICS certified preferred, at least 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment. Skills/Abilities: Language skills-ability to read and interpret SOP's, contracts, procedures, and to write and communicate clearly and effectively, and to make effective management presentations. Mathematical skills to accurately calculate discounts, proportions, percentages, interest, volume, and to use software such as Excel spreadsheets. Reasoning ability-ability to make judgments and decisions, to apply common sense, and to solve problems. Computer skills-Knowledge and experience using inventory, spreadsheet, presentation and word processing software. Teamwork, flexibility and an open mind to change are skill factors for a success in this role. Special Qualifications and/or Remarks: Ability to negotiate contracts, pricing and purchases successfully, ability to lead teams and projects and to use software to track timelines, dependencies, and key milestones, ability to change and optimize processes and to put in place preventive measures to improve systems, knowledge and experience utilizing MRP II systems to plan purchases.
