Follow your aspirations to Abbott for diverse opportunities, competitive salaries, great benefits, a 401(k) retirement savings plan, a company paid pension plan and profit sharing, all with a company providing the growth and strength to build your future.Performs research and engineering laboratory functions involving the layout, building, testing, troubleshooting, repairing and modification of mechanical or electromechanical materials, devices, assemblies, subassemblies, systems and products.Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.Performs a variety of duties in the electrical, mechanical, electro-mechanical, chemical, or optical areas.Builds or assembles prototype materials, components, subassemblies and assemblies.Constructs, operates, troubleshoots, calibrates, adjusts, maintains and tests equipment, systems or products.Works from schematics, engineering drawings, and written or verbal instructions.Performs tests, analyzes data and writes reports.Reviews or develops processing or manufacturing instructions.Maintains detailed documentation through all phases of development, testing and analysis.May assist in the transfer of technology and/or contribute in cross-functional discussions regarding device performance allegations.Additional responsibilities:Perform product testing in support of market claims- conduct bench tests evaluating various functional aspects of a device (bllns, stents)- utilize various test equipment, interface with IT and equipment vendors to ensure proper operation/calibration- write test protocols and reports, collect data and analyze (including statistics)- present results to marketing customers and managementConduct product analyses on competitive products- reverse engineering of devices to understand materials and techniques of construction- create CAD drawings from data- present to engineers, legal staff, etcSupport new bench test methods and model development- conduct research experiments on new materials, processes- evaluate and help characterize new test methods (R&R, validation)- write test protocols, reports, data analysis- draft new STMs, document test proceduresFabricate new bench models involving various polymers, injection molding tools, process development, etcAssembly of previously specified laser system components including lasers, optical components, motion controls, gas management systems, electrical and pneumatic controls, cooling systems, and safety circuits. Alignment of optical components for beam delivery. Installation of laser systems and performing initial system start-up. Documentation of initial laser characterization upon installation. Continued support of laser systems, once in operation, including routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and process development support.Qualifications7+ years experience with ultra-fast lasers. Demonstrated ability to install and troubleshoot ultra-fast lasers and laser components. Demonstrated experience installing and troubleshooting optical and beam delivery components. Experience integrating laser systems including motion controls, electrical and pneumatic controls, cooling systems, and safety interlocks. Abbott welcomes and encourages diversity in our workforce.
