RD Director, Software Architecture Development - (Job Number: 0802195) DescriptionOrtho-Clinical Diagnostics, Inc, a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is recruiting for an R&D Director of Software Architecture and Development located in Rochester, NY. Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics is a leading global provider of in-vitro diagnostics. OCD's Research and Development organization is using a platform-based (product-family) development approach in order to efficiently deliver medically relevant diagnostics to the marketplace. To accelerate implementation of this approach across multiple lines of business, we are recruiting for a Director to define and implement the architecture, processes, organization and development partnerships for product-line software development. This position will report to the Group Director, Systems Research and Development. The R&D Director of Software Architecture and Development will lead the development of software for a variety of regulated products that produce diagnostic test results and medical content for professional health-care providers. The products range from large, complex electro-mechanical systems to small, highly robust software packages integrated with multiple analyzers and hospital information systems. As a recognized leader in software architecture and development, the R&D Director will be responsible for not only development of products based on existing OCD technologies and architecture, but will be a key architect of new platforms for the development and delivery of new medical content. He/she will manage a development group of approximately 20 employees, plus additional contract resources and third-party software development partners. The R&D Director of Software Architecture will be a strong manager of people and projects, driving results through inspired leadership and a focused and disciplined approach to product development that is consistent with best practices in the industry. He/she must be technically sound, provide clear vision, and develop a team that is an outstanding resource to the organization. Possessing excellent interpersonal skills and leadership presence, the Director will proactively develop strong relationships across functions within OCD, at the OCD board level, across Johnson & Johnson, with our development partners and relevant industry organizations. A strong performer in this position will be considered a potential successor to the Group Director, Systems R&D. A minimum of a bachelor's degree is required. A minimum of 10 years of professional industry experience is required. Product development experience is required. Complex system development experience is required. Experience with large multi-disciplinary real- time systems is required. The ability to describe and define software architectures is required. Experience selecting and managing third party vendors and development partners is required. Demonstrated leadership and change management capabilities are required. Professional experience working with multiple companies is required. Software development life cycle experience is required. Experience with real- time control is preferred. Experience with embedded systems is preferred. Experience developing architectures and products and process for software product lines is preferred. Experience with medical devices or FDA software systems are preferred. Professional experience with health-care information systems is preferred. Medical or biology experience is preferred. Approximately 20% of domestic and international travel is required for this position.
