Research Associate – Biochemistry

Makoto Life Sciences is seeking an enthusiastic and enterprising Research Associate to join a growing biochemistry group. The work will focus on identifying the targets of biologically active small molecules. The candidate will need to demonstrate excellent protein biochemistry skills. In the dynamic and fast-paced environment at Makoto, this candidate will have the opportunity to grow and develop new skills, and take on new responsibilities.

Responsibilities:Protein expression, purification, and characterizationDevelopment of in vitro biochemical assays for compound evaluation, target identification and validationData analysis, presentation, writing of technical reports and protocols

Qualifications:Bachelors/Masters in biochemistry or a related area of biological sciences with 2-5 years of laboratory experience (salary compensation with experience)Experience in standard protein biochemistry techniques (SDS-PAGE, western) is requiredExperience in biochemical assay development is preferredExperience in protein expression and purification is preferredKnowledge and hands-on experience with HPLC, radioactivity, IP, cell culture, and standard molecular biology techniques are a plusIndustry experience preferred (biotech or pharmaceutical)Must have excellent communication and organizational skills
