The Novartis Institute for Biomedical Research in Cambridge, MA is looking for a research associate within thier Oncology Group/Drug Discovery Unit. Under the supervision of a Ph.D. scientist, the candidate will carry out the following activities: enzymatic assay development, medium throughput screening and IC50 determination, data processing and management, protein characterization and mechanistic studies. The job will predominantly focus on early discovery processes and will involve frequent collaborations with our Lead Discovery Scientists and Medicinal Chemists. The position requires excellent communication and collaboration skills. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, collaborative, and able to multitask effectively.Qualifications MS with strong Biochemistry/Enzymology training and 0-3 years (or BS in Biochemistry with 5+ years) industrial experience A good understanding of biochemical modification of proteins, biochemical assay development, small molecule inhibitor characterization, enzyme kinetic characterization and mechanistic studies. Strong ability to grasp new scientific concepts, implement new assay technologies, and develop new biochemical assays to support drug discovery programs Good computer skills and familiarity with Excel Fit and other graphics Highly motivated and hard-working individual.
