Research Associate, Immunology Laboratory

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Research Associate is a member of the immunology team in the Assay Development and Validation Lab. They will assist in the development and validation of the immune assays that will be used in the TB vaccine animal immune potency studies and clinical trials. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

·  Conducts immunological and general laboratory procedures, using Good Laboratory Practice and Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) procedures

·  Organizes, performs, and documents pre-clinical and clinical assays for epidemiological and vaccine studies

·  Conducts routine laboratory maintenance, including reagent inventory, instrument calibration, and facility monitoring

·  Implements SOPs pertaining to ELISA, cytokine multiplex and peptide chip assays

·  Implements and performs newly developed immune assays, including data analysis

·  Assists in assay validation, QA/QC procedures, and maintenance and updating of SOPs

·  Assists in further development of processes regarding shipping, receiving, recording, storing, and data management of pre-clinical and clinical trial samples

·  Ensures the maintenance of complete and clear laboratory notebooks; generates lab progress reports

·  Other duties as assigned




QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

 Bachelor’s degree in immunology, cell biology, biochemistry, or related field, with two to four years laboratory experience, including at least two years of industry experience in quality control aspects, documentation, and record keeping.Experience in ELISA and data analyses, primary cell culture and the skills to prepare reports of primary and analyzed data.Experience in implementing SOPs in microbiological or immunological procedures and experience in GLP is a plus. Flexibility in work hours to accommodate laboratory schedules and international travel are expected.
