Research Associate - Mass Spectrometry

Located in the beautiful Hudson Valley region of New York, Regeneron is a biopharmaceutical Company that discovers, develops, and commercializes therapeutic medicines for the treatment of serious medical conditions.  Regeneron currently markets ARCALYST™ (rilonacept) Injection for subcutaneous use for the treatment of a rare, inherited, inflammatory condition.  The company has therapeutic candidates in clinical trials for the potential treatment of cancer, eye diseases and inflammatory diseases, and has preclinical programs in other diseases and disorders.

 

With a strong research base and product focus, Regeneron is able to understand thoroughly the biology of specific disease states, discover potential therapeutic candidates and evaluate product candidates in clinical trials. Regeneron has developed several proprietary platform technologies, which it has incorporated into a comprehensive system that allows it to accelerate the discovery and design of fully human antibodies and move these candidates rapidly into clinical development.

 

Major responsibilities will include experimental design and execution of Mass Spectrometry based experiments with the goal of contributing to our understanding in several research focus areas.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Establish, develop, and/or optimize methods for several mass spectrometry based methodologies (iTraq, SILAC, MudPIT, etc).

- Establish, develop, and/or optimize methods to using 2D liquid chromatography (micro and capillary).

- Carries out data analysis from several different 2D LC-MS/MS based experiments with the application of appropriate software and statistical programs.

- Carries out routine sample preparation and operation of MALDI-TOF based assays.

- Carries out general biochemical techniques SDS PAGE, 1D IEF, Western blotting, etc.

- Keeps up with scientific literature. -Presents findings at group and interdepartmental meetings.

- Maintains lab supplies and equipment.

 

Knowledge and Skills:

- Strong fundamentals in analytical or protein chemistry.

- Must be highly motivated with a positive attitude towards learning.

- Must be able to work productively in a fast-paced collaborative team environment.

- Excellent communication skills are essential.

 

Education:

- Requires a BS/MS in analytical chemistry, biochemistry or related field with at least 3 years of laboratory experience.

- Prior experience in analytical mass spectroscopy a definite plus.
