Research Associate/Sr. Research Associate – Applied Technologies

Position Summary
Codon Devices is seeking an exceptional, highly-motivated bioengineer or molecular/cell biologist to join the Applied Technologies Group.  The successful candidate will support research on advanced techniques for the construction of pathways and pathway variants, and the application of these technologies to cell/metabolic engineering projects.  Strong technical, organizational, and communication skills, as well as the  ability to develop creative solutions to challenging problems, are essential.

 

ResponsibilitiesPerform molecular biology techniques such as PCR, DNA mutagenesis, DNA subcloning, cell transformation, cell culture, and other more advanced methods in support of Applied Technologies research projects.With guidance from project leaders, design and perform experiments to optimize techniques for pathway construction and cell/metabolic engineering.Work collaboratively with other team members and project leaders to accomplish project goals and milestones.Participate in technical discussions related to the development and application of new pathway synthesis technologies.Use creative problem-solving skills to independently troubleshoot experimental challenges.Routinely track and document results in laboratory notebooks and databases, and  communicate experimental results to the project leaders in a timely manner.

 

Qualifications

B.S. or M.S in bioengineering, molecular biology, biochemistry, or equivalent and 0-3 years experience, preferably in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry. Experience with recombinant DNA technologies, cell transformation, and cell culture are essential. Familiarity with metabolic engineering, DNA recombination, gene synthesis and/or flow cytometry is a plus.  Must be highly-motivated, have strong communication skills and the ability to work in teams.
