Research Engineer - Chemical

The Microfluidics™ Division provides solutions that are used worldwide by researchers, formulators, and manufacturers in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, chemical processing, and personal care industries.

We are seeking qualified candidates for a position as Research Engineer in the Applications Laboratory and will report to the V.P. of R & D. The engineer will utilize various models of Microfluidics’s processing equipment to process samples of dispersion or emulsion materials, and also will test mechanical components using standardized testing procedures. Additional responsibilities include interacting with customers, and providing assistance to R&D department through research and analysis of test data.

Job Description:

• Perform materials processing using proprietary fluid processing equipment

• Assess the resulting materials using analytical equipment and write reports

• Interact with customers to understand customer needs and convey test results

• Contribute to the development of a data base for the Applications Lab

• Evaluate new designs for our core technology by a combination of experiments, analysis, literature searching and customer collaborations.

Requirements:

• Experience with production and characterization of nanomaterials desired

• Experience with basic chemical analysis instrumentation

• Hands-on mechanical skills with medium to large scale equipment

• Experience Computational Fluid Dynamic packages desired

• Good computer skills including database development and/or data acquisition

• Basic knowledge of pneumatics and electronics

• Excellent written, organizational and communications skills

• BS in Chemical Engineering with 0-2 years of experience
