ResponsibilitiesThe Research Scientist will be a key driver of Genomics Technology within the newly initiated B.I.O. Biomarker department at Centocor R&D, Radnor. The successful candidate will be actively involved in multiple genomic biomarker projects to support the development of drugs within Immunology and Oncology therapeutic areas. The candidate will need to successfully collaborate with diverse functional groups including Bioinformatics personnel to ensure appropriate analysis of mass data, and the diagnostics franchise for appropriate development of theranostic assays. The individual will be required to design and execute genomic-based assays, generate technical reports, patent applications, manuscripts and present data at both internal and external meetings. A PhD with prior laboratory research experience, or an M.S. with at least 8 years of research experience is required. Experience with nucleic acids processing is required and experience with genome-wide expression profiling is preferred (e.g. mRNA/miRNA gene expression, CGH, or genome-wide SNP association analysis). Preferably the individual will have experience in the field of oncology/oncogenomics. Communication skills as well as an aptitude to conduct research in a team work and timeline-driven setting are a must. Good recording keeping, data analysis skills, and database analysis are essential. The individual should be able to present ideas for alternative methods to improve experimental results.
