ResponsibilitiesThis position is with the Biomarker department and requires a highly motivated Research Scientist to assist in the development of innovative biological therapies for pulmonary diseases such as asthma, and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. The candidate must have a good understanding of the clinical and pathological manifestations of pulmonary disease(s) together with the molecular pathways that differentially drive these diseases. He or she will be expected to represent the department on cross-functional teams and develop and implement biomarker strategies for compounds in the pulmonary pipeline as well as maintain direct involvement in the laboratory. Experience with high content data such as microarray and/or proteomic data is required. Experience in human translational research, patient samples, FACS, primary human cell culture, molecular biology is highly preferred. The candidate must have a current knowledge of the scientific literature and strong communication skills. This individual will be encouraged to publish and maintain constructive contacts within the internal and external scientific communities. Qualifications Qualified candidates must have a PhD in Pharmacology, Immunology, or related field and 0-2 years of postdoctoral research experience in Immunology, Genetics or a required field; A PhD is strongly preferred, but a a MS with at least 8 yrs of relevant experience will also be considered.Essential functions: Strong knowledge of pulmonary disease(s) and experience in molecular and cellular biology techniques. Must be highly organized and capable of handling several projects simultaneously. Good communication and writing skills are essential. The successful candidate will be current in understanding of relevant published literature and have the capability to lead studies across departments, within Johnson & Johnson and with outside collaborators.
