Research Scientist, Biotechnology In this role you will drive the prioritization and selection of bio-generic opportunities. This will include providing technical assessment of new opportunities, technical support for IP reviews, competitive analysis with respect to existing products and therapies, pipeline products and life cycle management strategies. You will also coordinate the preparation of development plans with program teams and portfolio management. In addition, you will assess and communicate new developments in recombinant protein therapeutics, production, delivery, and life cycle management. Other Responsibilities: Identify and critically assess new proprietary biological products for potential partnership or in-licensing and external sources of drug substance, cell lines, or critical technology for meeting business objectives Work with outside consultants to drive development objectives To be successful in this position, you must possess: BS degree in a scientific discipline is required; MS, PharmD, or PhD is preferred Minimum of 7-10 years experience in a technical or program management role in new product development is required, depending upon degree Technical proficiency in one or more areas of recombinant protein product development such as process development, molecular biology, pharmacology, analytical biochemistry or drug delivery Thorough understanding of all stages of proprietary product development including pre-clinical and clinical development stage activities Ability to understand and evaluate patents across a variety of subject matter Understanding of product attributes that impact product value and Hospira's business strategy Understanding of EU and US regulatory pathways for biologics and bio-similar products Excellent communication skills Ability to work in a cross-functional setting to coordinate the product development planning process Our people make Hospira an organization of stature, and we're proud of our accomplishments.
