Centocor Research and Development, develops innovative biomedicines. The world leader in monoclonal antibody production and technology, Centocor has brought critical biologic therapies to patients suffering from debilitating immune disorders. The Research Scientist in The Structural Biology Department will be responsible for supporting and enhancing our antibody discovery and optimization platforms. Responsibilities of the Research Scientist include, but are not limited to: developing and supporting computational strategies for improving immunologic, biophysical and biochemical properties of antibodies; supportng and enhancing our antibody 3D structure and sequence databases; providing scientific input into statistical analysis and data mining; developing a network of relationships and collaborations with leaders in the antibody engineering field; The successful candidate will be responsible for proactively monitoring milestones and managing resources to achieve implementation schedules and ensure goals are reached. She/he will be expected to participate in relevant cross-functional and cross-organizational committees to Centocor Discovery Research. The Research Scientist will hold a PhD with 2 or more years of experience. Expertise in molecular modeling, simulations and potein-protein docking are required. Experience with statistical analysis, data mining, and developing/maintaining databases are preferred. Industry experience is highly preferred. In addition, the successful candidate should possess: - Computer programming skills- Strong process and analytical skills- Understanding of drug discovery - Demonstrated ability to manage a complex workload and prioritize tasks based on program goals- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills - Ability to work quickly and independently and as a well as in multidisciplinary teams.
