The Cardiovascular and Metabolism Disease area of the Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research is searching for an individual who will be responsible for running a biochemistry lab focused on drug discovery. Significant expertise in enzymology and assay development is required. Additional experience in using biophysical methodologies and protein production is highly desired. This individuals lab will be responsible for establishing and performing biochemical assays for support of hit-finding activities and support of medicinal chemistry lead optimization. In addition to these activities, the candidate will be expected to perform detailed enzymatic and biophysical mechanistic studies.QualificationsCandidates with experience in assay technologies such as LCMS, fluorescence-based techniques, SPR and/or calorimetry are preferred. This candidate will have to excel in a matrix environment, be highly collaborative, innovative, self-motivated and expected to supervise the daily activities of associate level scientists. A Ph.D. in Chemistry or Biochemistry with a demonstrated record of achievement and with three years or more of drug discovery/pharmaceutical experience is preferred.
