Position: Research Scientist (Polymers & Biomaterials)

The Research Scientist (biomaterials) will play major role in design and synthesis of polymeric biomaterials, more specifically, protein-polymer conjugates for various projects aimed at building technology platforms in drug delivery, biosensors, and the biomaterials market.

 

Job description

 

Successful candidate is expected to work with our senior scientific staff in developing and conducting experimental work plans both independently and in concert with other team members, review and interpret results and implement changes as needed.  A successful hire will quickly assume a lead role in task based efforts, overseeing other staff members. Experimental work will involve synthesis of polymeric materials, their application in product/technology development, and evaluation of performance of the materials developed.

 

Qualifications

 An ideal candidate must have an advanced (MS/PhD) degree in Polymer Chemistry, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmaceutics or related discipline with 3-5 years of experience in conducting research projects in academic or industrial setting.

 Significant direct experience in polymer synthesis, evaluation of polymers for drug delivery and biomaterial applications is desirable.

 Knowledge and skills in synthetic chemistry, polymer synthesis, and polymer characterization, ability to conduct scientific searches, freely interact with project leads, organize and present data to internal and external clients is a must.  

 Original thought and creativity is expected in evaluating new techniques, products, and improvements to existing procedures.

 Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary.

 Must currently be a US Citizen or hold a valid permanent resident status (Green Card)
