SE II

There is a regular full-time software engineer position available immediately in the Center for Genome Dynamics at The Jackson Laboratory. The incumbent will work closely with the researchers, specifying, developing, and maintaining software for ongoing analysis efforts.



Tasks will include review and future maintenance of a code base that is focused primary on interface, database, and webserver activities.  The successful candidate will work within the CGD software development process and will be directly involved in all phases of the software development life cycle with a major emphasis on user requirements analysis, design, technical and user documentation, data architecture, and software programming.

 The successful applicant should posses, at minimum, a BS degree in Computer Science, and experience with web site creation and maintenance including CSS, HTML, and Javascript programming.  Familiarity with current bioinformatics data resources and tools, and a background or strong interest in molecular biology and genetics would be a benefit. Additional programming experience with C++, perl, PHP, SQL, or system administration would be a benefit. The position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills. Candidates should have strong interest in the ongoing development of their technical and interpersonal skill sets.
