SENIOR IMAGE PROCESSING SCIENTIST (medical devices)

STI Medical Systems is a world leader in developing advanced image processing and optical diagnostic imaging technology for cancer detection utilizing the latest Computer-Aided Diagnosis (CAD) technologies; based in beautiful downtown Honolulu, HI, STI offers a challenging and stimulating work environment for talented professionals that demonstrate superior technical proficiency and progressive thinking. We currently seek an experienced professional to join our growing team. As a senior research scientist with STI, you will be encouraged to lead, be creative and innovative, contributing to the collective intelligence of the image processing field. The successful candidate will demonstrate the aptitude to lead and be successful in a dynamic collaborative team environment and will be prepared to champion initiatives related to new image processing technology developments.

SENIOR IMAGE PROCESSING SCIENTIST (medical devices)

OVERVIEW OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

•Utilizing expertise in image processing, contribute as a member of a highly collaborative team of senior engineers and scientists on initiatives pertaining to the development of optical diagnostic imaging technology for cancer detection. Lead and collaborate with other members of the project team to meet defined scientific and technical needs, expectations and goals.

•Provide technical and/or professional coordination and leadership in the execution of day-to-day program activities, as appropriate to STI Medical program objectives.

•Proactively recommend, lead, and execute tasks and strategies in support of STI's various project requirements.

•Partner throughout the research and product lifecycle with Medical Programs, Image Processing, Product Development and other related STI business units.

•Other duties as may be assigned by management in the pursuit of the operational goals of STI.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

•Ph.D. or advanced degree in electrical engineering, image processing, computer science or other similarly technical field required.

•10-15 years of relevant work experience required.

•2+ years in a technical lead role and in managing other image processing scientists preferred.

•Exceptional mathematical and analytical skills required.

•Proven ablity in solving complex problems and the ability to encourage a team of scientists to to do the same using a mixture of creative ideas required.

•Understanding of image processing as it relates to the development of medical equipment highly desired.

•Understanding of cervical and colorectal cancer desirable.

•Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.

 

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

 

•Willingness to learn, master, and embrace new technologies, scientific advances, and current research as they relate to the field of image processing.

•Desire to contribute and collaborate in an entrepreneurial, and often unstructured, environment. Passion for image processing science technologies a must. •An ability to remain current with accepted industry standards, documentation and practices.
