BioPhase Solutions specializes in recruiting top talented professionals for San Diego's Scientific community. We are currently looking for a Scientist to work for a leading San Diego biotechnology company.

SR. SCIENTIST– PHARMACEUTICAL DEVELOPMENT

The purpose of this position is to design, develop, qualify and/or validate processes, procedures, production equipment, and analytical instruments and techniques, as needed, to scale up production and analysis in support of formulating compounds in proprietary company technologies based on scientific principles and regulatory/GMP considerations. The work is typically in collaboration with partner companies. The incumbent oversees product testing and stability studies, as needed, develops raw material and finished product specifications. Will troubleshoot and manage preventive maintenance of laboratory and process equipment and analytical instrumentation, and writes documents for regulatory submissions. Will be expected to work with a significant amount of independence as well as be expected to interface with partner companies at a high level, and be able to present work at national conferences. The individual should help provide scientific support to the group, and supervise/mentor less experienced staff. Will be working closely with several functional areas within the company including Business Development, Purchasing, Shipping, CMC groups, Quality Assurance, Document Control and Regulatory Affairs.

An M.S. or Ph.D. in chemistry, pharmaceutics, or equivalent with 5-8 years of related experience is required. The incumbent should have proven supervisory skills, excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, competence in pharmaceutical process development, formulation development, analytical chemistry methods development and method validation, knowledge of pharmaceutical quality standards, validation guidelines and regulatory compliance. Prior experience with proteins, parenteral products, controlled-release products, and/or liposomes is desirable.
