SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGER
BA/BS degree required. MBA or Masters in Operations, Finance, or IT preferred. CPIM certification a plus.
Minimum of 8 years of progressively increasing responsibility preferably in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device industry. The successful candidate will have 5+ years in a manufacturing and/or supply chain role and a general understanding of GMPs, CFRs, and the processes involved in manufacturing API and Drug Product. The candidate will have demonstrated experience in managing complex projects. The candidate must have strong leadership ability, having successfully led projects, teams, and/or operational units. Proven experience in building strong teams and motivating and empowering coworkers/team members is essential. A moderate to high level of expertise in use of EXCEL and MS Project is preferred. The candidate will require a general understanding of ERP systems and be able to perform basic financial calculations. Strong influencing ability, business acumen, and motivation are highly desired.
This position is responsible for managing site Supply Chain Operations, including Purchasing, Warehousing, Distribution & Logistics, Production Planning & Inventory Control, and Contract Manufacturing Management. The position will be responsible for staffing, scheduling, budget planning, project coordination and training/development of the Supply Chain team. The position will also interface with internal cross-functional support teams and external vendors to assure supply goals are met. This position reports to the site Director of Operations. This position will require up to 10% travel.
Purchasing/Sourcing – Create and execute sourcing strategies for contract manufacturing third parties, an established Mentor manufacturing facility, and a new manufacturing plant currently under construction. Establish purchasing processes/controls. Improve PR/PO/Invoice routing cycle time. Ensure SOX compliance. Establish controls for effective supplier quality management. Develop annual business goals, monitor vendor performance through KPIs and provide feedback to supplier base. Partner with other Mentor sites to drive greater purchasing leverage across the corporation. Work with Finance to generate financial models for scenario planning and supply chain optimization. Utilize purchasing function to drive down costs.
Warehousing/Distribution/Logistics – Coordinate storage and logistics of drug substance, drug product, samples, components and waste flows in the supply chain. Establish warehousing policies and procedures. Implement ERP system for materials tracking and production planning.
Production Planning & Inventory Control – Create and manage the Sales & Operations Planning process to collate demand inputs and create corresponding supply plans. Develop and update long-range capacity models/strategy that supports business strategy. Collaborate on new product launches, line extensions and life cycle management activities. Develop and make recommendations for alternate supply strategies. Communicate schedule performance and production metrics (yield, productivity, scrap, etc.). Create and implement a Supply Chain risk assessment and remediation plan. Assist finance with building COGS models. P/L review.
Contract/External Manufacturing – Establish cost-effective manufacturing supply agreements, contracts, quotations, and proposals. Act as “person-in-the-plant” as needed to oversee key aspects of GMP manufacturing of drug product and/or packaging at supplier sites. Lead contract manufacturer selection process and technical transfers.
