Scientist - Pharmaceutical Sciences - (Job Number: 0804038) DescriptionJohnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Research and Development (J&J PRD), a leader in pharmaceutical research and development, has an outstanding career opportunity for a Ph.D. level scientist or equivalent to join and help lead the Early Development team based at our Spring House, PA Research and Development Facility and in close proximity to the east coast discovery unit of J&J PRD. The successful candidate will work closely with the medicinal chemistry teams to provide pharmaceutical input during lead optimization. The candidate will design, plan and carry out experiments to characterize chemical, physical and mechanical properties of new chemical entities (NMEs) and work closely with process chemists in selecting the optimum physical form (salt/polymorph) to be used in early development. He/She will contribute to IV and oral formulation development for preclinical and clinical studies. The successful candidate is expected to have presentations of innovative work in peer-reviewed publications and at professional meetings and initiate and promote new product development activities to further strengthen our intellectual property through invention records and patents. A Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Physical Organic Chemistry, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering required. 0-3 years' postgraduate experience in academia or industry preferred. Strong organic chemistry skills are preferred. Crystallography experience is preferred. A robust understanding of biopharmaceutics, solid-state chemistry, material science and the formulation of poorly water-soluble compounds are strongly preferred. Excellent communication and teamwork skills required.
