Senior Database Architect Pacific Biosciences is looking for an energetic and talented software professional, with a keen interest in developing state of the art database software designed specifically to meet the needs of a revolutionary breakthrough technology that sequences DNA at the single molecule level in real time.  Our single molecule, real time (SMRT™) technology is a new paradigm for whole genome analysis that holds the promise to deliver on the $1000 dollar genome and beyond. The Senior Database Architect will lead by example, acting in a hands-on development capacity while mentoring peers. This must be done, in part, by enforcing good development practices and ensuring quality throughout the software development process. Qualified candidates for the Senior Database Architect opportunity will possess a BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS or equivalent, will have 7-10 years relevant work experience. Previous positions held must include positions such as Senior Database Engineer. Candidates should also have a deep understanding of best practice software design, including OO methodologies and SOA, and should have strong experience in relational database design and SQL programming. Qualified candidates should be proficient in .NET development tools, best practices, and should have experience and understanding in building complex distributed applications. Excellent communication skills are essential, namely having the ability to conceptualize and articulate ideas clearly and concisely.The key technical skills we are looking for are: 7+ years experience developing relational database software 5+ years as systems architect; providing technical leadership Proficient in .Net Bachelor or Master's degree in Computer Science or Computer EngineeringExtra points if you know any of: MySQL, SQLite Distributed systems and applications include grid architectures Data mining and artificial intelligence Writing open-source software
