Senior Development Engineer (Knee, Hip) (249169-560)

The primary responsibility of this position is to design and develop new products from concept through production. Activities may involve working extensively with external partners to integrate their design as well as development and execution of test strategies for verification of third party design.

1. Designs and engineers products for customer needs, manufacturability, cost, quality, reliability, effectiveness and ergonomics
2. Runs development projects with varying responsibility for project leadership.
3. Develops and controls prototypes accomplishing laboratory testing, design refinement, field trials, and documentation.
4. Solves engineering problems at a system and component level
5. Seeks new technologies for integration into new products. Assist in new product planning.
6. Provides technical support to other groups as required to bring product successfully through commercialization, helps maintain existing products and supports vendor technical requirements.
7. Participates and leads technical discussions. Communicates information and ideas in one on one and meeting formats.
8. Develops and works to project schedules and project budgets.
9. Discloses inventions for patent application and supports their prosecution and defense.
10. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

B.S. degree in Engineering or equivalent.
Seven (7) years engineering experience preferred. Must possess good design talent and analytic ability for problem solving. Must possess solid basic knowledge of general manufacturing techniques. Must have the ability to work under minimal direction
Track record in establishing good relations with vendors and external partners
Experience in product design
Good communication skills a plus
Team leadership skills a plus
